Eugenio F. Bird, M.D., Esq.

Dr. Bird is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is an associate professor at Interamerican University School of Optometry in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Dr. Bird earned his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in 1980. He joined the army after graduation and attained the rank of Major in the U.S. Medical Corps with two decorations before receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1989. During his service he completed a surgical internship at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, HI, and an Ophthalmology residency at Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. While in the Armed ForcesĀ he was assigned as the chairman of the Eye, Ear, Nose & Throat Department at the Baynes Jones Army Community Hospital in Fort Polk, LA from 1987-1989. Upon discharge, he completedĀ a fellowship in Cornea/External Diseases & Refractive Surgery at Hermann Eye Center - University of Texas in Houston, TX, 1989-1990. Subsequently he established his Ophthalmology practice in Winter Park, FL in 1990.

Dr. Bird has hospital privileges at Florida Hospital in Orlando and Winter Park Memorial Hospital in Winter Park.

Leslie Garay, M.D.

Dr. Garay is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is fellowship-trained in cornea, external diseases of the eye and refractive surgery. She earned her medical degree from Rutgers Medical School in Piscataway, New Jersey. After completing her residency in ophthalmology at the University of Arizona in Tucson, she completed her fellowship training in cornea and refractive surgery at University of California, San Diego Shiley Eye Center. Dr. Garay then joined a private practice in New Jersey and trained residents as a clinical instructor at the prestigious Wills Eye Hospital. Prior to joining Bird Eye Institute, Dr. Garay was in Hawaii working for Kaiser Permanente as a comprehensive ophthalmologist.

Dr. Garay's clinical interested include corneal and anterior segment pathology. She is an experienced surgeon in various techniques of corneal transplantation, refractive cataract surgery, pterygium and management, including lasers and intravitreal injections.
